Since going to freelance, rather than hiring contractors to shell work out to, I have become a one woman show. This transition has been beneficial for both my clients and myself.
Custom Design
I offer custom designs, to your specifications. The fee for the design is a flat rate starting at just $400 when you provide all your own photographs to me! My designs are all done in Photoshop and I work one on one with each and every client to ensure that the design is exactly what they want.
I no longer offer custom designs...however, my partners over at Hammerhead Graphics are the best of the best, and they do offer spectacular custom designs. Be sure to contact them today for a quote!
HTML/CSS
Of course, this goes without saying, that in order to have a successful website, your developer MUST know what they are doing. And at the root of all web design lies HTML and CSS. All of my designs are hand-coded (yes this is important!!!) by me, tested in all major browsers (Internet Explorer 8 & 9, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome) and then uploaded to a test spot on the host of your choice for viewing by you for any and all errors. All websites must have at least 2 pages: Home & Contact Us, so that is where I've started my pricing. The development for a basic HTML/CSS website, without any special programming (i.e. javascript, jquery, php etc...) starts out at $200**.
Every basic site needs some programming. For example, in order to have a successful website, you must have a contact page. The good news is, I have already developed a basic contact form that is PHP driven and has the ability to be modified for most client needs, it even has form validation to ensure that you are getting the information you need. This is included and does not cost any extra.
jQuery - jQuery allows for a search engine friendly, yet user interactive, website. jQuery plugins are "pre-made" plugin's that can be implemented and used to run jQuery programs such as animated menu's that do not bog your site down with heavy javascripting. jQuery also allows for some of the best, most interactive and animated photo galleries around. You can see some examples by visiting my portfolio and checking out some of the great galleries and slide shows used in the sites. And almost all of the sites in my portfolio use jQuery menus! For jQuery programming of menu's/photogalleries/slideshow's etc...you will be billed at an hourly rate of $50/hour with an hour minimum.
Javascript - While I do NOT recommend a lot of javascript, it is inevitable in most sites...however, javascript is outdated, slow and many times people block it from their browsers (yet another wonderful thing about jQuery, if it is "blocked" your site is not messed up because it is all CSS driven). For javascript programming I charge $45/hour with an hour minimum.
PHP - Most sites that require PHP knowledge involve a CMS (content management system) such a Joomla or Wordpress (two of the biggest). Once your website is created, if you opt to use a CMS for your website, a certain amount of PHP will have to be coded into your existing code and this will be billed at $45/hour with an hour minimum.
Flash - I do NOT do flash! So please do not ask!
OTHER - I have only listed the major programming languages needed/used on most websites. If you know you will need a different programming language, feel free to ask (as long as it's not flash) and I will be happy to bid on that...OR if I am unable to do it, I will be happy to point you to one of my many trusted peers who can assist in what you are looking for.
SEO (search engine optimization) doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. All my websites are pre-coded with the basic's, including some keywords pulled from the context of your website and a sitemap that you can submit to Google, Yahoo!, MSN and any other search engines you may use.
Professional SEO - Okay, some companies will promise you the moon and the stars, and a #1 ranking on Google. I'm here to tell you...THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! No one can "guarantee" you a number one spot on any search engine unless they use "illegal" techniques that can & will get your site booted from the major search engines. What I offer is the guarantee that with my methods you will rank high, probably on the first or second page of Google and Yahoo!, as do all of my current clients, for most if not all of your chosen key search terms. *NOTE: Once the design has been approved and development has started, any major modifications will be billed at $75/hour with an hour minimum.
**NOTE: The price per page STARTS at $100, if changes/modifications become excessive (more than 4 or 5) AFTER the page has been approved, all changes/modifications will be billed at an hourly rate of $100/hr with an hour minimum.
